Just a quick hello. Pick up my 15 plate liquid yellow megane RS 265 with cup chassis and leather recaro seats tomorrow. Can't wait.
Hope it's not a lemon. Looked in very good condition apart from slight wear on bolster of drivers seat. Had recaro seats before though and know it's hard getting in and out without rubbing so wasn't too bothered. Cheap front tyres too but dealers usually put them on if tread is low and won't put expensive tyres on. Bodywork seemed very good. Looks lowered too and possibly modified but probably end up modifying it myself. £16k was a fair price for year mileage and spec too.
Yeah a few of us enquiries about it. I nearly put a deposit down a month ago but the dealer couldn't tell me if it had any mods or anything apart from the fact it may have been lowered. It was also a 4 hour drive from me so I left it. Enjoy it, they're great cars!
He was a bit vague with me when i asked about certain things. Was a 3hr drive for me too but they offered me a very good deal overall after some haggling and felt it was worth the journey. Felt good on the test drive down some country lanes. Just hope there hope it hasn't got a hidden dark side. From what i've read though these engines are strong so should be ok. Fun car though especially in sport mode
Yeah they are excellent engines and very tuneable. I guess whatever life it's had before doesn't matter a great deal because it's such low mileage! I ended up in a slightly more expensive car with slightly higher mileage, but it's got the rs monitor that I was after. I'll probably do all of the mods that yours already has like you said! What did you have before this?
Trading in my Fk2 civic type r, gutted to see it go but due to a change of circumstances i needed to free up some cash and i've saved around £7k so had to be done. Still wanted something fun and nothing come close to the megane RS in my budget. Type r brilliant car just lacked some character like my old mk2 focus RS. Like a child and loved the pops and bangs from that. Hopefully no issues with the megane and years of fun motoring.
Picked up the megane RS, goes very well. Rapid in sport mode. Judging by the ITG cold air intake it's definitely been modified too. Guessing intake and remap the way it goes. Very smooth power delivery though. Not too bothered as it's things i would've done anyway. Plus it was a good price. Looks like it's been looked after though. Always modded my cars but also took the best of care of them too. Used modified cars are not always bad as owners usually invest lots of time and money in them. Exhaust next to release the pops and bangs
You can take out the mid box and you'll get that anyway Although i find mine only does pop (mostly) in sport mode. oh and.... PICS!
Thanks. Goes very well and handles like a go kart. Can see why all the journalists rave about these cars now. 10/10 for fun factor.
Enjoying ownership so far, very impressive car the way it handles and puts the power down. Love the colour too. Any common faults i need to be mindful of in the years ahead, maintainence etc?
Just watch for pot holes, speed bumps and mounting kerbs, can wear the swivel ball joints out, mine went preety early (car already done 7k miles before i had it) but since ive had both hubs replaced under warrenty done 30k miles be carefull, and there still going strong. Gearbox engine mount are known to sheer its bolts, most have drilled it out and fitted a bigger stronger bolt, mines been ok so far, but i did fit a vibra technics lower dogbone mount early on, to take abit of movement out the engine. Probably more i cant think of at the minute.
That's great, thanks for the advice. Always crawl over speeds bumps. Guess you had a knocking when the joints went? Read they can be a weak spot. Will consider a gearbox torque mount too.
Yeh, mine started knocking on the one side as soon as i picked it up, but was now and again and gradually got worse (with help from myself ) got that done, then other side started as soon as i drove out the place, so ended up getting that done not long after, but both have been fine since, ive still got a knock on the drivers side, but its got no worse, and the joints were checked when i had me coilovers fitted. So must be something else.
