As per title does anyone run the H&R springs? What are they like compared to the standard cup springs? I've had my meg nearly 5 years now and I've always hated the arch gap. Any other recommendations to make my car feel "new / fresh" again? Bushes etc? I'm more about handling than power!
They are definitely a worthwhile mod, imo the ride is no harsher than the standard cup springs. Tyre to arch gap is reduced and the car sits much more evenly and handles a bit nicer too. Pic showing height of my 250 cup on H&R springs
I'm running h&r springs and find the ride is perfect although since fitting I have now got clicking cv joint so I will have to fit some driveshaft spacers now!
Yep, me too. Replaced the Cup springs that a previous owner had put on (non-cup car) and the car feels much better. More compliant around our terrible town roads, but really firm up when out having some fun. Perfect combo for me.
@Gaztr26 @RobC do any of you have wheel spacers along with the springs? I was thinking of getting the h&r springs and some spacers but not sure what size to get.
No spacers fitted with mine and they look pretty good...maybe the rear would look slightly better with, but personal choice I guess
Yeah can hear it both inside and outside the car. Not running spacers as I have fitted a set of wheels that are a offset of et50.
-35mm which doesn't sound a lot when you look at the standard ride height, but it does make a significant difference. Now that mine has settled after a few weeks it looks better hand when they were first fitted.
Yours looks good rob. I have the exact same wheel (non cup car). Their much better looking then the cup wheels imo. Did you fit the springs yourself? Heard their pig to fit?? I'm just debating on having a go of fitting mine myself. Rears look easy enough...
Thanks Jimmy. No I didn't fit them myself, one of my friends has a garage locally so he did them for me. You're right with the rears, they are pretty straight forward, it's the fronts that are a bit tricky. I think it took a couple of hours all told. I prefer these wheels too, I just had them powder coated in gloss black as the original lacquer had started to peel. Good luck with fitting the springs!
Mine on H&R springs. Had the driveshaft spacer fitted as a precaution too. Great ride height compared to oem. Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
Seems that people with stock wheels have issues when they use lowering springs, but aftermarket <ET60 wheels don't?
got them on mine on a 275 with cup chassis... was concerned comparing the cups and the h&r's on the ground as the cups are shorter by half to nearly a full.coil. but. .... they are fantastic on the road and I have to say they are a little more predictable over the bumpy stuff. you can feel the car is lower by a fraction as you can feel a little more road under you if that makes sense. but whether hard or gentle driving the car is more predictable especially on a bumpy twisty b road or country lane (tarmac rally stage in my mind lol). still grips like it's on rails round corners. no need for driveshaft spacers just make sure whoever fits them seats them properly and it will be perfect. ride height over cups is about 20mm lower but noticeable and spot on.
Mine on H&R springs, already fitted to the car when i bought it which was a bonus. Perfect stance and the ride isn't crashy either.
