Coilovers height adjustment

  1. Decided to lower my car today as I knew the Bilstein's had a few threads left.

So I adjusted the passenger side front with 7 threads remaining. Then I did the same on the driver side front 7 thread remaining.
Wound them down both sides to 5 threads
I stood back and looked and the passenger side seemed higher, so I double checked each side, measured the arch gap and the threads remaining and they were the same. Yet the passenger side was indeed higher.

So I wound the passenger side all the way down to start over. I put the wheel back on, looked to see how low it was and it now seems level?!

Recap; passenger side 0 threads remaining. Driver side 7 threads remaining. Yet it seems level and even measures so?

    Think I'm loosing the plot.

  2. Exactly the same as my KW clubsports. One side on the rear is probably 10mm lower on the thread platform than the other side, but is higher than the other side on arch gap.

Its normal, The weight is different on each corner.

However, Did you not mention that it had been corner weighted? If so you have ruined that now LOL.

Also, Don't use the thread as a gauge for how low it is, Measure from Wheel centre to top of the arch if you want it even.

  5. Exactly like Jamie said, all due to weight differences and tolerances in mounting various components. Same goes for toe and camber.

  6. I asked the tech guy not to do it after your advice that for a road car it's pointless. I guess he may have done the corner weighting.
