275 Brake Squeal

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by OiNK, Jul 20, 2016.

  1. Picked up my new car a couple of weeks ago, 275 cup s with 3880 on the clock and have since noticed an irritating squeal from the brakes when coming to a stop.

Any suggestions on how to resolve it, at this stage in its life obviously the car is fully as it came from the factory so no aftermarket parts or anything have been added to the brakes etc...

Never hear my old 265 cup make a single squeal in 40k miles from the brakes so this is driving me nuts....

    Thanks

  2. Any idea which brakes in particular, when i first purchased mine the rears were squeekingg badly.
Changed the pads and gave a good clean and all sorted. Think it may be because the car was stood a while before sale in a coastal area as i have since had trouble with a few corroded seized bolts on a car with only 17k miles

  3. I get the impression it is the front, obviously don't want to be paying out for new brakes already as these ones are practically new....any ways around this?

  4. Remove pads and cleaning should sort them.

  5. Clean pads or discs? Spot the brake noob...

  6. Remove pads, clean and a blob of copper grease

  7. If it's normal squeal then the issue is dust in the calipers

The resolution for this is to fit an aftermarket stereo ;-)

  8. Mine also squeal very loud sometimes when coming to a stop (nails on chalkboard) , front right I think

I noticed alot of brake dust, I will try and clean it as suggested , no special tools needed to get it out right?

  9. Go out and give the brakes a good bollocking.

  10. Surely its under warranty, Renault have design standards for brake noise so get the dealer to investigate.

  11. Go out and drive it. Give the brakes death. That'll sort it

  12. My cup s is exactly the same mate. As said above some copper grease will help. It's covered under warranty but I haven't got the time to take it in so I'm just living with it at the moment

  13. I don't think it's advisable to use copper grease, use something like Ceratec instead. If you're taking the pads out then you might as well invest in Mr Pink pins while you're at it, it'll avoid future headaches when changing pads.

  14. Copper Grease is the Devil's Sperm.

  15. Standard it seems.

Mine have squealed as described from new. To be honest it doesn't bother me all.

  16. In my experience, getting the brakes uber hot doesn't prevent squeal once they have cooled down again

  17. Mine are super annoying, they squeal when i'm NOT breaking (i.e all the time below 30mph)

Changed Disks and pads up front as they were shot anyway, noise remained so i guess i got it wrong and it must be the rears.

  18. Woohoo my squeal is gone....front pads removed, brake cleaner, touch if grease, greased pins and all back in....no more squeal

  19. Same on my R26! It's doing my head in!

Was at Mark's over the weekend and he filed the edge off my front pads as one had developed a lip I as told. But it's come back!
Goes away when pressing the brakes but when coasting its like a on and off squeak. Anyone?

  20. i replaced discs pads on the front and pads on the back in the end =|
