I pick up my Renaultsport Megane 275 Cup-S on Saturday. It's in Flame red and comes with leather Recaros, Akropovic exhaust, Ohlins, v2 monitor 19" Steev wheels, focal speakers, window tints and a couple of extra bits. REALLY looking forward to it. Test drove it on Saturday and just need to remove some mods from my current car (GT86) so I can trade it in. My previous cars are Mk5 Fiesta Zetec-S (blue), Renaultsport Clio 197 F1 edition (red) and my current car a Toyota GT86 (grey) with a few mods. i will prob look to add a couple of mods to the 275. I will prob be looking at making it a little louder as its a little tame compared to my GT86 (primary cat back non res Milltek exhaust fitted). i will also prob be looking to add an amp because I am sure it will make a world of difference (although I am crap at this also haha). I am new to the modding world and not very good mechanically. I do love to wash my cars though and spend a lot of time making them look good (I use mainly Autobrite products). I pick it up from Wakefield on Saturday morning and will enjoy the 1.5 hour drive home Will post pictures up when I get it. looking forward to learning and I apologise in advance for all of the noob questions. Liam
Welcome along. The car sounds like it's going to be stunning. I thought the exhaust was to make it louder?
Thanks. It is louder, just not as loud as I was expecting. I didn't really tonk it though so maybe that's why it wasn't as loud as I was expecting. The drive home will tell me
Hi, welcome. Excellent choice of car there Interesting that you have a GT86 - this was one of the cars I considered before the Trophy. I couldn't get over the lack of power though. I'd be interested to here your comparisions when you've had a chance to drive the Cup-S. Get some pics up of the new car, and your old ones if you like.
The GT86 is a wonderful car. The power wouldnt be so bad but it has a torque dip between 3200 and 4500 revs. My next mod was a UEL manifold and a remap to get completely rid of it. The GT86 is a great looking car, VERY comfortable and can fit alot of stuff in. I was getting over 33mpg (town driving) and I am not light on the throttle. It is an extremely easy car to drive and makes anyone look like a pro drifter from 7 mph onwards. I haven't driven a car that gives as much feedback as that. I decided to change to an RS again as myself and my wife were going to get another 197 F1 Clio as a track/weekend car but I just decided to get a Megane instead (I looked at the new Type R but 32k for a civic and it doesn't have the 'magic' rear seats. I'm glad you don't mind me posting pictures because I take ALOT, especially before l, during and after a clean.
Hi and welcome Love the look of the cup-s, been looking myself but i think i need to use my 225 after spending so much time and money on it, maybe next year.
I loved my F1 197, brakes were epic, as was the handling. Can't wait I get to grips with this one. Might take a while to get grips with being a fwd car and lots of grip again. Which is the opposite of my GT86. Sideways round bends to flying round bends, should be fun!
the colour is one of the main reasons i want to keep it Plus the other work i have done on it , coil overs, bucket seats, charge cooler, rear seats removed etc
More about the work i have done, plus a couple of the whole car http://s996.photobucket.com/user/ian-sw/Renault Megane 225 F1/story
Some great pictures there. Shame I don't know what 80% of them mean but I can see the effort you have put in.
Ha Ha Ha most of it is for the charge cooler, wanted to do something a bit different, instead of going down the Forge inter cooler route, i went for a water cooled inter cooler, getting it remapped soon with 630 injectors so will see how it copes.
Congrats on the car mate . was interested myself but took a few days too long to talk the wife round lol. Stunning car
