  1. Hi

Just after some advice on what peoples opinions are on the best brake pads to fit on the R26 for road use and a trip to Nurburgring in the summer!

Fitting them to new HC Brembo front discs and 175 dci rear discs.

Any advice or opinions greatly received

    Thanks

  2. DS1.11, or XP8, the DS make more noise on the road unless you give them a hammering very now and them.

  3. I'm on the rc5+. Fantastic pad and much better than the ds2500 I've tried.

  4. I'm using RC6. Superb pad.

  5. Ill be getting endless pads next

  6. xp8 are fantastic,had 2 sets..instant bite,no fade..very dusty though..but id rather be able to stop!

Rc6 are the best performance and best priced pads

  8. I have heard these spit rusty dust over the sides of the car that's a bitch to remove?

  9. Not at all. Mine is white too.

  10. Thanks for all the suggestions.

If Im honest all ones suggested sound a bit overkill as I dont do trackdays and the trip to the ring is my first!

Would something like these be any good? Anybody tried them?

Or am I better sticking to Brembo OE ones?

    Thanks

Would something like Ferodo DS Performance be any good? Think they are a step down from DS2500

Or am I better sticking to Brembo OE ones?

    Thanks

  12. I use brembo HC disks couples with yellow stuff pads and really enjoy them. I have not done any track days but for a little fast road blast I can't fault them.

Not really though. Pads are quite a personal thing. Ive ran RC6's before but far prefer the Carbotechs i have ran in both XP8 and XP10 compounds, The CL's are a bit too grabby for me IMO

  14. I have run DS2500,XP8, DS1.11. Now i only use DS1.11, for road and track.

  15. hit the brakes a couple of times when you're doing 100mph and the OE brembo pads stop working......

People really don't rate DS2500 given the weight of the mk2 meganes.....

I'm also using DS1.11 - they work fantasticly from cold and they are only £153 from JJC Race and rally - just email, and say you are a member of this forum - that price makes it hard to look at another compound on the Mk2 imo.

  16. Thanks for that papps and the heads up on where to get them cheapest!

  17. No worries mate,

Like with all performance parts, they have their downsides - they will squeall at low speeds, create a lot of dust mess, but thats a small trade off in my book - Get RBF600 Fluid (1ltr) and you'll be sorted

  18. DS1.11's would be a good choice and have been well proven on track by many track day goers

But as said pads can be quiet a personal thing .. depends on how you drive and what you want from a pad really .. for fast road and a blast round the ring i would say something less aggressive like the DS2500's would be a good choice too

  19. Thanks guys. The car is not going to be used on track unless I get the bug after my trip to the ring in May! Lol.

John-Have you run DS2500s? Ive read people complain about a lack of intitial bite from them. I do recall a similar issue with a set of DS2500s I had on my old GTI6.

  20. Yep had a few sets , I used to use them with 330's on track and had no issues .. after getting som heat into them they do bite better .. obviously not as much bite as an all out Track/Race pad compound ... but much nicer pad to live with everyday , less dust , wear and shouldn't squeal .
