Hi all, Looking into buying an LY R26, by the plate LV08 ZFT. Just wondering if anyone knew about this car with any information at all, would be really appreciated! An also, just some general pointers if I go and look at this car the weekend, nearly 400 mile round trip! Thanks
For a 2008 R26 the following repairs need to be on the radar..... 1. Belts is the most important invoice you need to see - should of been done at 5 year / 72k by a renault sport specialist ideally 2. If its on the original clutch you should budget £850ish for the replacement, my car 78k just got done, and quite a few others with similar aged R26's have had new clutches fitted - the used market has R26's with new clutches fitted. 3. Steering Hubs - very common problem - cheapish to remedy (with the right parts from people on here) - jack it up and push and pull on the front wheels - any play and it needs done - an 08 R26 should of ideally had them replaced. 4. Any play in the steering at all, could indicate track rod end, bushes or other steering components need replacing, again 40k-60k seems to be the lifetime for those parts - parts are cheap ish 5. Check all electrics, the windows failing is very common to us all. 6. if the exhaust is slightly squint at all, its the mounts, they fail often. Good luck in the hunt! The usual stuff - check for premium matching performance tyres on the car as an indicator of the type of upkeep its had - don't be put off by plain Brembo front Discs either - the drilled ones crack with track use so most don't use OEM R26 discs.
My old one is for sale at RevitUp. I'm not sure of your budget but I can tell you the car is immaculate and won't need a single penny spending on it.
They are fantastic cars to own ! Great handling cheap to run and parts etc are cheap. Also hardly see any on the road so rare too.
The best car I've owned without a shadow of a doubt. They have their faults like most other cars. However look after them and you shouldn't have too many issues. Just remember they are French and do need a little bit of mechanical sympathy. Most faults can be rectified quite easily using guides from this forum. I did a lot of work myself on my car, must have saved hundreds thanks to the kind chaps on here.
That's the one. Sounds a lot but the car is in showroom condition. Everything works with no faults. I keep looking at it. I am tempted to buy it back.
Price is a bit steep mate, I'm not knocking the car or condition, but I think you'd be mad paying that.
