  1. New to this forum but heres my journal, Went to the nurbugringring then on to Spa last month in my BMW M135i, My second time going but only done 1 lap the first time I went so it was only this time that I really enjoyed it and caught the track day bug! When I came back I couldnt stop thinking about building a weekend toy / track day car and the Megane R26 ticked all my boxes as the perfect car to start with. Was looking around for a damaged one as I want to start this project saving as much as I can, Came across a 'Megane R-S' on copart, had previously been damaged but fully repaired, ended up winning for £2500

It was only when the car got delivered and I saw the logbook I realized I had bought a Megane 225 Cup not a R26! It had fitted the R26 Front bumper, Wheels, Seats Etc so didnt think anything of it until then. So I was now in two minds whether to sell it on and get a R26 or just use this as my base, whilst deciding a 2009 R26 came up on HBC Auction Site, So I thought I would buy this, use all the parts I need from the Cup then sell the Cup on as needing parts.

So went and picked it up, started stripping the front end down, took the Cup front end apart to swap over, then this comes up

A 2008 Glacier White R26 with quite a few mods and a dyno print out of 276bhp. I know its quite a lot of damage but I just cant resist a white R26!

So anyway now my plan is to break the Cup for parts, Repair the two damaged R26's, Sell the black one and keep the white one.

  2. Heres my M135i at the ring, running approx 370bhp

And heres a video of the R26 running, The rattling is just the heatshield, Does anyone know any history of this car, Registation YL08 JMV?

  3. Welcome ! Be good to see how this turns out. Like the GW R26 ! Wanted that colour me self
whats the mods on the GW R26 ?

  4. I saw that black one on copart and watched it for a while! good to see you've got hold of it!

If you're breaking either, i'm after door handles and door handle bullets/caps (both sides) and also a set of wheels. If you're willing to part with any of that, PM me

  5. Bloody hell! Couple of decent projects to get stuck into here.

ideal base(s) for track cars though!

You're brave taking on three, one is enough for me lol.

How much do you think it will cost to fix the GW R26? Are you repairing and painting the bodywork yourself?

  7. From what I can see on the car and the receipts I have the mods on the GW are Forge Intercooler, Forge Piping, Forge Actuator, Induction Kit, Milltek Turbo Back Exhaust & Decat, Stage 2 Map, Maybe more but thats all I can see at the moment, hoping its had a clutch & flywheel!

Yeah I was over the moon when I thought I had bought a fully working R26 for £2500, not that theres much difference in the cup and R26. I will have a set of wheels probably in the next couple of weeks, dont think I will have the door handles as im pretty sure I need them.

A friend of mine owns a bodyshop so they will be doing the work on the GW one, From what I can see it needs rear quarter replacing, various panel beating and full respray, will probably end up costing about £1500 in bodyshop costs with mates rates. About £750 in parts I would say, and the car only cost me £1500, so to get it back in a decent condtion will be about £4k, which isnt bad for a stage 2 R26 in GW, And I will be modding it along the way and after it has been repaired.

That's a great price for sorting the bodywork. Hope you can document it all in this thread as it would be an interesting read.

  10. I'll be very impressed if you can fix up the GW one for so little money!

Either way, very brave buying 3 salvage cars when you only wanted a track car! Look forward to seeing how they turn out
