  1. Artdealer on Renaultsport forum has one for sale, cage and titanium, under 7k miles if you are interested.Bought mine from him, top bloke.

  2. Nice to see their holding their money Martin

  3. can't see it fetching 22k tho!

  4. Yeah some loon will sign up for finance on it mate.

  5. Soon R26R will be more expensive than when bought as new in 2009.

  6. Hope so, we may be sitting on little gems, i saw a 205 1.9 with 53k miles on go for £13,600 on eBay the other month, a guy I know paid 35k for an escort cosworth last year so who knows

  7. Look at MK1 rs focus, got to pay well over 10k for a good one. The price can only go one way with the .r and that's up.

  8. I certainly hope so, I'm sure I'd get I'd get more back than I paid for mine after nearly 3 years

  9. Not that's it will be for sale sometime soon

  10. An old Mk 1 Astra GTE on the trader for nearly 8K. Are they really worth that? Looks very original.

  11. People will pay what they see fit, always been the same people pay loads for stuff that's not made anymore and that's how it will always be

  12. Just had the R serviced/Mot. Both window regulators/Wiring looms replaced. Steering geometry Adj.Boost leak fixed.(Didn't know it had one!.) Loads of other bits and pieces that i could not be bothered to do. Senior tech worked (On and Off) for 3 days.Car has come back like new. Yes its costly, but FOR ME,its nice to see a Renault Stamp in the book. Also got tea,AND Scottish Shortbread!. Renault Inverness. Highly recommended.

  13. I thin I've posted in the wrong section. Sorry.

  14. I bought my .R because I wanted an .R

It is special (to me at least) because it is what it is. You can easily create a faster R26, I have been on track with some very fast ones, but they will never be an .R

It's like buying a Ferrari built on an MR2. Very nice looking cars and often difficult to tell it is an MR2. But it certainly ain't no Ferrari.

  15. Most of the guys on track, are faster than me (Make that all of them!.) but for me its a great joy just to drive the R. I have had Clios faster than me,but who cares. I have a great time. As has been stated many times, you can buy an R26,and make it far faster than my R. Nothing wrong with that, But FOR ME, I prefer to have an R.

  16. this question is always gonna be asked of a special a company does, why buy a:
r26r when an r26 is a lot cheaper and almost as good
bmw csl when a cs is a lot cheaper
    mini gp over a jcw
    etc

people buy them because they make them feel special, yes you can turn the others into the more expensive model but it will not hold is value and with not be the limited number
some people see they as a positive and worth the extra cost but a lot don't.

i am always up for a special if they mechanically are different not just cosmetic e.g. like the new rs gordinis which are really just a cosmetic

Thats a good point the r26.r is hardly mechanically different to a r26 its just cosmetic modifications. I know it has slightly different shocks and springs but to fair they're not exactly much better than a standard r26 setup. Most R owners who want a good suspension setup will buy adjustable coilovers anyways.

  18. Totally disagree with everything you said.

They are very different and most .R owners try to keep them standard as this is what most buyers want to see (in addition to spec)

Tell me then how are they very different mechanically? Do they have a different engine? Different gearing or diff? Maybe better brakes? Quicker steering? Geometry?

I mentioned suspension because it's the only real mechanical difference and if an R owner actually wants good track suspension they will have to bin the R setup anyways.

  20. They are specifically designed to be lighter, so any suspension changes are as a result of that weight saving.

If you have ever been around a track with a fat friend in the passenger seat, then you know what a massive difference that extra weight make to the cars overall performance.

"good track suspension" - still do not agree.

  21. Without doubt the R26R comes with good track suspension.. I defy anyone who says otherwise

  22. I've got an R26.R, it can be made better for track by fitting a set of AST coilovers , but for me their has to be a compromise for track and road which is why I took the ASTs off, the new AST however are surprised to be more adjustable so can be made softer for the road , with them on when on track the braking is a lot more stable and can be made sharper with the adjustable top mounts as you can get camber which helps with tyre wear depending on the tyres you use, I've ordered the new ASTs so I'll let you know when their on , wont be for a while though that's even if they turn up

  23. You put any cooksports on your R Steve ? Would be interested to see how the drop helps ( or doesn't )

  24. Not so much 'designed' to be lighter. After all taking stuff out is hardly re-designing something.

I have an r26 and would love an r26.r. not because it's faster or lighter or handles better all of those things can be done to the r26 as they are fundamentally the same. But because they are and genuinely are a more 'special' car.

Heres a genuine question to all the Owners and fans of the .R, If it weren't a limited run like it was would it still be as "special"?

Just to add it in, I almost traded my RS250 in for one but couldn't find one in a spec i wanted, Namely Ti exhaust and Lunar or RB

  26. Even if it weren't so limited I still think it would of been popular just because it's a little different and came like that from factory. I could be wrong though mate .

Just curious as to whether people bang on about them and rate them so much over a non .R is more to do with the fact that there isn't that many of them and they are pretty rare as opposed to how good they actually are?

  28. Not sure but straight out the box their brilliant

  29. I did not buy mine for its rarity value,or limited edition value.FOR ME,its does all i want it to. I use it for Tesco run,or track use. It uses fuel, tyres, brake pads, averages 30 mpg,serviced/mot once a year. I am not bothered if there are 10000,or 10 made. This car( on track)is faster in the wet, than my 636 bhp evo.( O YES IT IS!!.) In the dry, thats another matter. The only car that might tempt me from this is an Exige. Unfortunately, the guys have advised me otherwise, plus i can't afford it on a pension!.

  30. Have you seen the Germany LHD one on pistonheads for 24k done 25000 miles....its gone crazy these prices!

    Not crazy, it won't sell.

Dreamers, Its just like the few non CS/L E46 M3's with low mileage that are up for 25k+, Again they will sit there until the price drops

  32. R26.r's are crap buy an r26 and mod up..........

    said the jealous owners!

i paid £15k for mine 2.5 years ago, with ti cage, mirrors and climate.
tyres were fucked so fitted some goodyears......good...but annoyed me ever since I got them as they're not factory fit. Buying some r888's this month (yes I know they're not the best, but they're factory!)

It goes to nuburgring every year and a drive out when missus ain't around. I love it the same amount as I did when I saw or in 2009.

  33. Oh and it'll never go to Renault garage. Mick @ diamond and mark @ bolsover for me!

  34. resale is a good reason for getting one, they won't lose any money the way things are going with numbers left. You can make an R26 as fast/faster on track, but it will be worth buttons even tho its a good car and not far different from an R. I have thought about trading mine in for something else, and then i go for a drive and its brilliant, the TI exhaust, buckets/belts makes it something tools forward to, had mine for 2 years now and still look forward to driving it.

  35. i can never see me getting rid of mine, i love 156 to bits, always makes me smile, and does everything i need of it on road and track as standard (bar the brake upgrade it has)

always makes me feel special and the ti exhaust sound at around 4k is addictive, even if does sound like a vacuum cleaner

  36. Ideally I cant see me getting rid of mine, this is the longest ive owned a car and everytime I think about replacing it I just cant think what would replace it without buying a sill gt2/3 or something like that

these cars will not lose money, im more than certain that I will gain a profit if I sell this car

not many others can say that especially after doing track days/ ring trips etc

Been looking at the R's for sale for the last 6 months now. I don't think any have actually sold that have been listed since I've been looking. A few listed around the 15k mark that a few years ago would have been worth around 17k?

  38. I have had an R26 for nearly three years. My mate has an R which I have driven on many occasions. The grip, the seats, the exhaust are all part of the fun, I had it for a week and didn't want to give it back. It felt so light and nimble and the grip was just beyond belief. When money allows I will own an R, no doubt about it, they are awesome cars. I just hope they don't go up too much in value.

Owners Value (what they think they're worth) and the sale price are two completely different things it's alright all the owners on here saying yeah they're only increasing in value blah blah but if you look non of the high price ones even sell and the ones sitting at 15k are probably selling for 13.5k...hardly increasing in value at the minute then.
