The elusive R26

Discussion in 'Megane Projects' started by Korky, Mar 20, 2016.

  1. I know we are all Megane mad (sometimes) but your commitment to keep it running perfect and on either OE or better quality parts is admirable. Like the trim parts for example.

Not many cars driven about these days older than five years old. Our stuff is considered "old" and it's nice to see a car getting quality treatment.

  2. Do you not do spanner work yourself mate?

Thanks very much mate, that's means a lot, I figured I'm in it for the long run now so might aswell give it my all!

I just hope I'm on the next shutdown at work so I can plough a load more into it!

  3. Fraid not. Don't have the space, time or tools yet. Next house its a must.

  4. I know that feeling... need Donald Trump to pick a fight with someone boosting the barrel/oil price... [emoji1419]

  7. Good to see the joint tapped off.

Did my wife's the other day and had to cut the outer race and the inner race, finishing with a cold chisel wack to split it. Nothing different just the circlip wasn't having it [emoji18]

  8. Did you do her r26 or another car?

On mine there was just a spring clip so to speak not a circlip and the joint just tapped off

  9. I wish!

No an old 1.5dci Meg workhorse that's just ticked over 176k and keeps passing the MOT [emoji38]

Exactly the same as yours and every other I've ever changed. Expected it to just tap off but no. Took it to work and used our aircraft workshop. Had the press on it with three tons and nothing. Couple of the big fellas gave it some welly with a good lump and ended up dislodging the vice. So out with the air tools and a grinder. Just the little clip holding it on.

  10. That is some mileage, you can't beat a good diesel work horse!

That's crazy, I'd of been very annoyed by the time the vice dislodged!
Glad you got it sorted mate.

  11. So the loom for the rear xenon level sensor arrived, hopefully this is the correct one, along with some genuine front mud guards to try reduce the beating the rear arches take.

  12. Ive got some templates and some rhino sealant or something (see through thick laminate) and will be making some rear arch protectors if you want the template?
Bought some off ebay and they're shite but I only wanted for the template to make some with thicker stuff

  13. As in the clear plastic to go over the arch?

  14. Yeah. Gonna stick em on tomorrow hopefully and see how they last (ebay ones lasted about 3 weeks! But were very thin compared to this stuff I got)

  19. No worries. Will help a lot. Got the rhino tape on the way!

  20. Yeah I was thinking to do that too. Looks a weak spot! The rhino stuff is much better. Put mine on today 74462bd80fb6c2cfe2dbf84ae92eebcc.jpg

  21. Think the only issue I may have is the existing damage. Possibly some paint may be in order first.

  22. What an awesome thread! This is going to be really handy. I'm tempted by a 197/200 steering wheel for mine, do the cruise controls still work?

  23. Yep straight swap dead easy 85c7cb8bfe7bb00a6e35c9b800a07ea6.jpg

  24. Love it! Cheers. Added onto the list of things to do!

  25. Me too!

What does your car do to the gallon? If you're on a
    Motorway run?

  26. Mine does around 36mpg but I do have the 630cc injectors in.

I haven't really done much to the car lately, however today I fitted the rear xenon loom which is one of those horrible Renault jobs, navigating the loom around the fuel tank and over various heat shields to the sensor.

  27. I haven't really posted anything on here for a while as nothing much has been going on. As of late I've had a new windscreen in the Megane, an offside driveshaft and some new led numberplate lights from xenons online.
Going to give it a oil and filter change this weekend.
I've almost had it a year now and including the car spent nearly 18k [emoji15]

Oh well, I do love it!

As above mate snappy is different to royal, would highly recommend, quality of the trim is unreal.

  40. From memory didnt / doesnt snappy work for aston martin doing their trims?
