I'm able to get the K&N panel filter for 50 euros new. Should I bother to chance the panel filter in this car? Does it make a difference?
It was a good day to clean my winter tires. No sign of winter here though. Excellent weather, sunny and no wind at all. As I did have time enough I managed four wheels in 3 hours: - washed - clayed - polished - sealed - waxed Now it's time to relax Wash: Wax: Enjoy: Now I can think about the color I want to paint the STEEV's as soon as these are fitted ...
Most tires seem to lose their best abilities after 3 years or so, but it depends on usage and storage... and your driving / expectations as well.
True but ... new winter tires don't cost that much compared to summer tires. Here's the tread wear, see for yourself:
Made an appointment with Unlimited Tuning in Amersfoort to check if there's any kind of tuning on the car. I'm curious as it's German import. If it's on it they might be able to set it up better / change it if needed. I'm tempted to buy the RStuner from fastchip.nl as this simply works with the OBD port and a standard map for the 250. Does anyone have good reviews about it for the Megane 250/265/275? My favourite season is coming up as well. Time for a good trip to the black forest or such.
Fastchip (Henk) is the only option to be considered if you are based in the Netherlands. I have no experience with UT, but I would personally prefer a tuner who only covers Renault and design his own maps; vs a company that tunes everything that comes along..
Totally agree with ^^, though I've read on here that Henk can be troublesome to deal with should anything need changing. Other option would be BR Performance, they have a facility in the Netherlands now (Raamsdonksveer). EDIT: and I'd always prefer a custom (or at least adjusted) map over a standard map
You could consider reaching out to http://www.vebanrijswijk.com/ and ask for Ralph, they deal frequently with Fastchip and have direct contact. I did mine Stage II via them, very satisfied.
Currently still in the stages of developing maps for the mk3 but if you're looking for an alternative i could be of service aswell. Got some pretty nice upgrades coming in the future too! First thing is setting up the dyno at a friends facility but i'm time limited unfortunately.... As above, don't go to UT! If you just want to find out if anything has been altered i could surely do that for you, i just don't have a fully developed map atm which i would be comfortable with doing customer cars, let's say i'm a perfectionist....
My Megane has been tuned by BR Performance at 3000 km , now it has 95000 km with a lot of trackdays , never had a problem and still runs very strong.
I've had an email providing a free check-up if anything has been done to the car yet. As this is just a check, nothing can be wrong about UT I guess? Even though I know they got a name in the Netherlands. Thanks for the info guys. Will check the possibilities at Fastchip, BR performance and tutuur himself.
A brand new panel air filter from K&N installed. The turbo blow-off noise has improved a lot which I didn't think was possible. I'd recommend this (or any good other) air filter If we can take a look if the ECU has been edited / modded then I'm happy
Fitted the winter wheels even though we just had 3 or 4 cold days so far I have to say that these silver wheels look good with the yellow paint and black accents. Shame they weren't made in 19 inch ... I think I need 2 (maybe 4) supersports before the summer ... right seems okay for the rear but left is worn out to the indicators.
No I haven't. Didn't really have time for it as my weekends are fully planned already plus let's say reviews weren't very positive. I think I've got to drop you a visit in 2017
I never liked the steev's 19's, but in that grey color they look 10 times better to me. Now I wish I didn't trade mine and got them painted instead!
In the mean time this happened. Already have someone to repair it ... but need to wait for summer as it takes 2-3 days.
As it was a sunny day I finally cleaned the wheel arches and gave it a layer of 303 Aerospace Protectant. I still want to do something against the rusty brakes. Any ideas are welcome! I've had no time to do the wheels ... maybe this week Also gave the car a fresh layer of Dodo Juice Red Mist as I was too lazy to wax the car properly.
The left DRL light stopped working all of a sudden and now 3 days later it's fully functional again ... Is this a known fault for the RS250?
She was on her period I guess. Both DRL lights running perfectly again with me doing nothing. Last car wash planned this saturday before we hit the snow
Little update: The car is still great! I do sometimes look curiously for a 265 or 275 Trophy but what's the best scenario with the Megane 4 RS coming out sooner or later. Had a great drive up to a Dutch meeting in Kampen.
