Replace column switch, RS225

  1. Is it an easy DIY job to change the column switch assembly on a Megane RS 225?
Problem is, that my actual rotating contactor sometimes makes strange noises, when steering to full lock...but not always. So, it seems to be on its way out...

Somewhere on the net, I found an advice to keep the wheels on full right lock whilst changing the column switch assembly.
    Is this true?
And has anybody done this job recently?

    I've just ordered a new assembly with the number 82 00 216 462.

The steering wheel has to come off anyway, as a retrimed one is on the way:-)

    Any hint really appreciated!

    Cheers
    Marcel

  2. Uninstalling the airbag from the steering wheel is a little harder. It takes a little bit to convince him to let go
Remove the battery terminals first .
