250 Brake calip refurb advice?

  1. At the risk of creating a new thread for one that already exists.......

Who are the best people to overhaul and paint brake calipers ?

I have seen a number of people that offer the service on the web, but am looking for recommendations based on experience

One concern that I have is painting in terms of durability and temperature resistance, especially as Brembo raise awareness of this being an issue on their website.

    Thoughts/recommendations appreciated

  2. I would recommend godspeed in Bridgend. Have had big brakes and refurbished from them before. Ian also rallied a clio in his time. Give them a call.

  5. Brake caliper specialists in Nottingham
Had my AP racing 6pots done. I had full overhaul and paint and they give 4 years corrosion and mechanical warranty

  6. bigg Red will do brembos if you remove the bleed nipples off yourself, they said that to me because they seize easily they do not want to touch them but when i offered to get the bleed nipples off for them they accepted.
To be fair you can buy the seal kits and get your caliper sandblasted then powder coated for half the price bigg red quoted me.

  7. I've just been having issues with my brembo caliper. Front drivers I've had to replace as the bleed nipple had totally seized . I wanted to change brake fluid as been 5 yrs since last change. Got new caliper via dealer for 174 quid. Now gone to bleed it and pressure has caused the passenger one to leak!!! So that's in for a refurb but not hopeful!!

  8. I had the same problem with one of my front calipers, the inner bleed nipple had seized (probably as it had never been bled from that side). Ended up having to get a workshop to mill out and rethread. I think the problem is quite common.

  9. Yep, very common. I’ve had to have a brake pin drilled out and also a bleed nipple very carefully drilled out (managed to save the threads)

In terms of refurbishing my calipers, I actually did it myself. You can buy new seal kits online and it’s very simple.

I repainted them with a kit from the brake caliper specialists and fair play, it was really good! I’m very fussy so I was very pleased.

  10. If it's a common fault with brembo why has nothing been done to rectify this problem?? Once my car is sorted??? I'm gonna send em off to renault brembo as of a common fault they shud have some type of protocol in place ie recompense

You'll get nothing from that. Preventative maintenance is the key. Nearly every caliper that uses the same style of materials and Nippes will do it.

  12. It's very annoying gonna cost me 350 for a manufacturing default!!

Its hardly a manufacturing fault though, Its an easy enough fix either way. Drill the old one out then Helicoil. Loads do this with no issues and its a cheap fix, Just a pain.

  14. I agree Jamie. With mine clearly the calipers had only been bled previously through the easy to access outer bleed nipple. Regular maintenance is the key !

  15. I might be putting my old caliper on here for sale net week then so the buyer can then ' re thread etc

  16. I've got some stainless lines to go on and upgrade the fluid, hope I don't have a chew on with them. The good thing is it's a Renault and parts are peanuts. Try spending 3k for some discs and pads, that makes you wince

  18. What car was that for?? 350 quid enough for me. Just paid 500 for calipers . Brake discs and pads fluids to be fitted. Thankfully got pads discs off this forum nearly new for cut price. So all done for next 2/3 urs
