Audi TT-RS opinions

  1. I have heard of VAG cars of this vintage having issues with the Haldex system that can get pricey, and also some issues with the 3.2 engine's timing gear. Not sure on the exact details, but worth some research I think.

A friend has a TT of this generation (albeit an RS) and it seems a nice car overall, probably a nicer every day proposition than an R26, but I suspect the Meg would show it a clean pair of heels and be a lot more fun to drive down a country road.

  2. Just get a MK3 Megane RS :tongueout:

  3. This is an RS though (judging from the badge at the back) ...just wondering why its such a cheap price as its lowish miles and is a high power model.

It wont have the handling of the R26 but looks & refinement wise its better imo. I dont trust that low price though hehe.

  4. Out of my budget im afraid hehe, for a well specced cup with recaros, monitor youre looking at 9-10K. This Audi is well cheap for what you get it seems!

Im totally happy with my R26 - i just enjoy car window shopping ha.

  5. someone on facebook sold their meg 3 for one of these, today he just sold it for another megane. said it was boring in comparison...

  6. Lmao it’s a 3.2l v6 not an rs you would never get an rs for that price

  7. My mates got the Mk2 v6 one. The timing chain issue is Sachs who made the chain stamped their name on it so makes the chain at a certain point weaker so can get noisy. Some people if they hear it get noisy change it for peace of mind but it’s a huge job over 2k even at a specialist. But he’s never heard of one snapping so it may be ok.

Manual is £500 tax and the undesirable model for resale. Dsg one is about £280 tax. Dsg could be expensive if it was to fail.

They never came with the s line kit as the the v6 was discontinued before it was released. He’s put the TTS front bumper and s line kit on his.

Depends if you meant you were looking at the v6 or rs because if it was the rs you would need to adjust your budget some.

  8. Yeah its a normal TT.

    A TT-RS is a very different animal.

  9. My mate has a
yep may mate as a 10 plate TTRS.
    Savage engine.
Not much in the way of handling finesse and feedback..But its still fkn fast.

  10. Ok its,not an RS - thought there was something dodgy about the price! So hes stuck an RS badge on the back....

  11. my mate payed 20G for his 2 years back!

  12. Yeah, still looking at £18k+ for an RS. Very different to the regular TT. A friend has one with a very unsilenced exhaust and it sounds absolutely savage.

  13. everything plays second fiddle to the engine.
The brakes are crap for such a powerful car.
You can hussle it along, but you have to drive round the understeer to make rapid progress.
If you know how to drive it..not a lot would keep up.
