265 HID kit installation

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by bobsan, Jan 19, 2018.

  1. If you've purchased one of several after market HID kits for dip bean on MK IIII, you may well have cut/drilled holes in rear of light unit to mount the ballast resistor and associated components around light. With a bit of careful thought its possible to get all the parts including the ballast box actually inside the head light unit itself and replace the latching cover over the back there-by keeping all the components safe and dry. Unfortunately not possible with main beam side of unit, there's just not enough room inside head light. IMG-2256.JPG IMG-2254.JPG

  2. Good info there il be doing the same. What kit did you get and colour? Any fitted pics. Im picking up my 265 next week and was surprised there is no xenons as an option.

  3. Presume that is pre facelift as the headlamps and covers are completely different to that I think. What were the other things to choose you mention. Thinking about this myself but not sure how hid will perform with stop start. I had a lot of trouble on my impreza with xenon kits in the past that when the engine was started with the lights on they went out.

  4. yes Pre FL, have you checked if any space inside your light structure, on site need to choose if want CAN bus or not also if want anti dazzle, no idea on stop start im affraid.

  5. Facelift has a projector lamp so no space.

  6. Just reading mot rules for. May 2018...hids will definitely fail unless fitted into an approved hid light marked dcr... So. I'm not. Going to bother now and just end up in a ditch because I can't see...

    What about leds

  8. Should imagine leds will be the same, but like most things with mots, it will be down to how clued up they are, and if they even care

  9. could still fit the HID and takes just minutes to swap back to Halogen once a year
