R26 Oil!

  1. Morning all - just received a Eurocarparts email informing me they're doing 50% off all oils today.

So far I've read that Fuchs Titan Race Pro 5W-40 is the best bet for an R26 - I've already got 6 litres of this sat in my garage. But, I'm always one for a bargain, so their choices of 5W-40 oil are:

    Castrol Edge FST
    Mobil One 3000 X1
    Shell Helix Ultra

Anyone have any thoughts\experience of running these in an RS Megane - I've always been of the opinion that premium brand, fully synthetic oils are probably much of a muchness, but happy to be proved wrong!

  2. Personally id just buy genuine Renault elf from Renault parts direct, £32 for 6l and a genuine oil filter is cheap enough as it is.

  3. The Elf OE oil is semi synthetic whereas the Renault RN0700/0710 spec Helix Ultra that I bought is fully synth but was only £18 for 5l on offer a few weeks ago, not sure how that compares to the 50% deal though.

  4. Ultra Helix is £19.80 on ECP with the 50% deal - not a million miles apart, and good to know that it's not particularly unusual to find it at a reduced price!

  5. Actually it might have been £19.99 then. Which doesn't happen very often actually, I got 20 L...

  6. I'd recommend the Elf.

  7. Do you mean the semi-synth that comes in first fill ?
