Im looking around for new wheels and found this ones, http://www.ebay.com/itm/EvoCorse-Re...477390?hash=item1c29915fce:g:5CYAAOSw-7RVDVC4 Does any one use/have those or heard about them? looks perfect to me, looking for 17" and this is almost exact as original but in 17" /L-P
They have been around for years. For reference, K-Tec also do them: http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=4399&appid=12
Yeah, I saw those one K-tec but the offset(ET) was so low? "Each wheel is supplied with a complete fitting kit, centre cap and bolts." Does it mean that you get spacers?
Yep, if the offset on those ones listed on the Bay is correct then they are close to the standard ET68 or ET66 (R26R).
Yeah, that's what I was so happy about, a 17" wheel with almost standard ET! have to look this up further! Since I don't want any spacer on the car! Feels like a perfect fit then...!
Now the car is placed in the garage until spring and some changes will be made: 1. install camber plates 2. Move the battery to the boot 3. New cold air intake to the airfilter 4. Maybe some new wheels 5. Try to make a front splitter (Have any one done this to a r26?) 6. oil, brake fluid, etc etc. This weekend I started with the battery(bought a new one, DEKA ETX30LA) and there is still some improvements that I need to take care of.. How it was before (the air filter was removed but tucked in behind the battery/ECU straight down with no air coming in) Then I removed the battery, ECU and the Ethanol converter: I used the old battery tray and made some adjustments by cutting it and mounted the ECU and ethanol converter to it: Then I installed the new cold air intake: And finally it was time to install everything, then I saw that one of the ECU cables was to short... So it has to go straight over the air filter. I'm going to try to turn the ECU upside-down and see if I can get the cable to go under the air filter! Also ordered a new battery tray cover and some new wire tubes so it looks a little bit better.. As I said, still need some improvements but its a start, and I think it will do great with the new cold air intake! Next week its time to install the camber plats and adjust camber, corner weight, ride height for track use only.
Just a thought Louis, why not remove the fog lights and use that as the opening for the cold air feed?
Saw this on facebook from K-tech today, this is the front splitter I'm aiming for! Nice to see some inspiration!
Visited Andreas at TTMotorsport this weekend to install adjustable top layer and set the camber, conerweight, ride hight and toe. got there at 10:30 went around 20:00 ... Began to dismantle the supension and it turns out that someone has chosen to mistreat one of them quite serious. Probably has not had KW's special key but a wrench or something like that. Luckily, I had already ordered new rings so it was only to replace ... As you can see missing half of the threads in the bracket, and it sat so hard that we had and cut it up. Then it was time to install the new adjustable camber plats from AST suspension that I had ordered the K-Tech Racing and of course did not suit them to the dampers, but with great support from K-Tech i'm sure we will fix this! Great design but completely wrong for these dampers, So we decided to make the best of the situation and set the car anyway, and tryng to maximize the camber! no matter what the car really needed a proper setting.
Well, now I got the answer from K-tech that the camber plates fit KW suspension but that you have to: "if that aluminium section is drilled / bored out to slip over the wider stanchion of the KW vs. the AST setup." Does any one here have any experience with this?
The camber plates issue with K-tech Racing seems resolve! Looks like I got wrong parts from AST suspension and I must say that the service I got from Sean at K-tech was incredible! So now I just have to wait for the new parts.... Also got the results back from the camber set up and we got -1.5 on the front with slightly modified suspension holders. Aiming for -2.5 degrees at the front. The back got -1.5 as well and planning on keeping it that way. Toe in on front -0,5m!
Update before the track days start i Sweden! I went and pick up the car from winter storage and drove it back to the garage, then I saw that the driver window didn't go up. It was stuck in the middle and did not function at all. Then I started to google and saw that this was a very common problem. So I started with all the quick fixes there is but noting worked, so it was time for remove the door trim and find the regulator. I disconnected the regulator and then sprayed some WD-40 on it and polished the contacts and put all together again, and it worked! Now its never going down again. Next up, starting to design a front splitter. Cardboard design for the win... The design feels good and now its just up to what material Im going to use, I might ge my hands on a carbon fiber splitter from a old Ferrari from a friend otherwise I thinking 10mm plywood to start with and test if it works. Any one that have some pro-tips for building a front splitter?
Hi, Yes it's a nice one but I'm looking for a more functional front splitter not spoiler! That's why I'm building one but thanks for the reply!
Friday night at the garage, my wife is going to kill me soon.. but have to get the car ready for the first track day next week! Started my splitter project, before I complete this I'm going to find the best camber settings for the car - aiming at -2,5. I'm doing it from 12mm plywood Got the new Toyo R888R at the wheels as well! Soon track ready... Next Thursday is the first track day of the year, the good part is that it's the same track I finished last years track days with so I can get a direct input on the mods I've done over the winter (as long as it not raining). Have a nice weekend
First track day coming up on Thursday and I was wondering what tier pressure I should use on the toyo r888r. The are 225/45/17 and was thinking about 33 front and 29.5 back (hot), any thoughts or other inputs?
Got a front splitter in carbon and plastic from a Ferrari 458 challenge competition car, it's a bit damaged on the sides but the Megane is not as wide as the Ferrari so hopefully I can cut a good part out of it!
Track ready for tomorrows track day. New air flow to the filter New tiers Smaller battery in the back More camber (-1,5) Let's see if it did any good before I make other changes. Right now I'm happy with the power and focus more on the handling and weight!
This was on I had on mine. Was painted black shortly after but don't have any good pictures of it. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk
First track day of the year is done! Falkenberg track in Sweden, with the local sport car club. Lots of cars and hard to get a clean lap but at the end of the day I had a good lap chasing a Opel speedster and improved my best lap time with 0,5 sec and it felt good. Noticed a big difference with the camber and absolutely going to increase it to -2,5!
Update: Monday: track day in Norway - Rudskogen This is a very hard tack with a lot turns and hard to get a good flow with a FWD (need more camber/toe out). I'm going to upload the video from the GoPro as soon as my computer starts to work again... Tuesday: installation of the camber plates from AST, ordered from K-tec. Took my long time to install them since I first got the wrong parts from AST/K-tec, but I got excellent service from K-tec and it didn't take long before the new parts arrived. Installed and ready to be mounted again. Fully installed and now adjusted to ~ -2,5 degrees camber on the front and the toe out will be a experiment for the upcoming track day. The back suspension and camber are perfect and doesn't need to be adjusted again. Next up: Changing the gearbox oil (Tranself 75w80 OME) Install the front splitter prototype in plywood (if I like it I will cut the old Ferrari splitter to fit the Megane) 20 May Track day on the island of Gotland in Sweden with the Swedish Renault club /Louis
