R26 Rear light craziness

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by eddie ninja, Apr 3, 2018.

  1. So the missus got flashed by a car today on way home.
Pulled over and apparently when she indicates right all rear lights flash.
    I’ve checked and it does.
    Is it an obvious fix?
    Cheers

  2. Tell her she'll have to keep going left to reach her destination [emoji6] or do what many drivers seem to do nowadays, just don't bother indicating [emoji35][emoji35]

  3. Possibly an earth fault ?

  4. I’d agree with this.

My other car used to do it.

I used to have to let off the brakes so my indicator would come back on ha ha.

The contacts were damp and corroded.

  5. Mine done this and it was just the indicator bulb blown

  6. Most likely corrosion on the contacts causing earthing problems or disco lights in your case..

  7. Bad earth. Clean the contacts and put the plug in & out a few times that usually sorts it.

  8. Slight bump but has anyone got a proper fix for this, mine have been playing up for months with no amount of cleaning earths or unplugging and plugging back in helping....

  9. New earth strap?

  10. The earth is part of the loom in the back of the car....

  11. Your battery is in the back of your car....

the earth for the rear lights is at the back of the car. behind the boot trim

  13. Battery is under the bonnet on the R26.

I’ve clean up both earths that are on either side of the boot behind the carpet still no change, N/S indicator and brake flash alternate

  14. Take a wire direct from the battery -ve to the -ve on the light, to see if that sorts it, if it does then you have an earth fault, if it don't fix it its something else
