  4. Very easy tbh.all accessible.
    You need to remove bumper, crashbar,and intercooler only.
    I would say its around a 3/10 difficulty.

  5. So after saving up for a lil while and looking into intercoolers after andy told me about intake temps being a little high on dyno / remap looked at (chinese ones,airtec,pro alloy etc etc) i made a decision and went for a proper one that there is no doubt works. I have to say its a work of art,the welds on it are 10/10 good,its just gorjus.

  7. After removing the panelling in the engine bay i have found that the coolant/expansion tank has some fracturing to it and could let go at any point once coolant systems up to temp.

    ............ so i have ordered a new genuine one from renault which comes in at a tickle under £60.

  10. So as a said i ordered a new coolant tank / expansion tank from renault and collected it today after work along with a litre of red coolant.
    First thing i did was just prob the engine up and secure it with the jack that the car comes with.only jacked it up like 2mm just enough to take the load of the engine so it doesnt drop.

    I was surprised just how easy it was to replace the tank after removing the engine mount. Took about 30 mins start to finish and to finish just topped up the new tank/bottle with new coolant.

    @Mikey4410 how does the aircon pump split down?

  12. Its easily done.theres a link above.

  13. Today was a very productive day.
    Firstly i had new front tyres fitted because they were knackered. I went for avon zz5s as this would mean i had a fully matching set and also i cant find a bad word about them on online reviews,the new front pair where £216 fitted.

    4NLTgQ.jpg

    Next up i have decided to get the front and rear renault badges and side bullets sprayed jet black.I shall also be getting door handles done and wing mirrors in time when i aint so skint.They look infinitly better now the bits that have been done.....

    I managed to fit the last gauge i wanted in the car which is a temp gauge that i will eventually wire up to the engine somewhere most probably the intercooler.
    Also i managed to re-fit the clock in the stereo blank as i missed having a clock and external temp .

    3wrpAY.jpg

    And lastly a few weeks back i fitted ferodo ds2500s up front for MUCH better braking.

  14. Yesterday my wing mirror casings arrived so today i fitted them.looked up online how to fit them and it said to remove the glass and then get at the clips which was bang on and easy to do.i think it looks so much better.very happy with them and now just the door handles to do.

    I got round to doing the steering wheel today also. I removed what was left of the old stitching and for now i replaced the red strip with a piece of tape.

  16. My mate was talking to me this morning about pollen filters and his mate removed his one and it was absolutley black and covered in debris,so i thought ohh ok i might check mine for a laugh.
    ...turns out it needed replacing real badly.below pic is old and new.

  17. Today i got round to bleeding the clutch as unbeknown to me the clutch is hydraulic and also forks of the brake fluid reservoir.Had to buy more typ200 fluid at £22 to use less than a bloody quarter of it but ohh well needed to be done. I bled it and sure enough it was absolutley jet black and horrific looking !!

    I got round to finally removing all traces of the battery tray which i have been meaning to do for 4 months, before doing the above (battery has been in boot for 4 months).Looks very good in there now and most importantly made it sooo easy to bleed clutch.

    I added a v shaped bit of foam along top of dash board to cure the annoying dash vibrations the meganes are famed for.

    I have brand new car matts which i have chucked in today also.

  19. Saturday 20/01/2018 was a snetterton track day !!!!

    I went along with my mate in his toyota mr2 and my other mate with his mazda mx5.

    First off this is the first trackday i have done in the r26 megane and other than the brakes and mapping/power the car is fully stock. I HAVE to say what a car ,on track it was absolutley nothing short of insanely impressive.I have never driven such a sorted car such as the r26 megane.The way that lsd pulls you out of them corners is just savage(never had an lsd equipped car before).

    The avon zz5 tyres are thee best tyres i have ever come across for varied conditions and give so much confidence to drive hard even when wet.

    The car was absolutley faultless all day long,not so much as a hint of brake fade or any other issues,in fact my first session was 30 mins long followed by a 26 min,and three more roughly 20 mins a piece.

    Heres some facts of the day

    * ambient temps 2c
    * peak thermostat housing temp 94c
    * noise static 97 db k-tec 3" exhaust
    * damp greasy conditions 2mins 36secs lap time.
    * 116 track miles driven (on track)
    * £77 in petrol costs
    * 8.4 mpg
    * 130 mph on back straight and 120 mph on start finish

    If anybody is interested just look up mikey4410 on youtube for all vids.

  20. Today was an extremely busy day,it was clutch replacement day as mine is beginning to slip !!

    fS3wi6.jpg

    xiztN1.jpg

    New clutch setup consisted of
    * r26r clutch disc
    * r26r pressure plate
    * r26r billet steel single mass flywheel
    * r26 consentric slave cylinder
    * typ200 dot 4 fluid

    * genuine renault driver hub needle bearing
    * cv/gaitor grease x2
    * driveshaft o-ring
    * driveshaft gaitor clip
    Also fitted a new upper engine mount.

    F4V8qj.jpg

    That gearbox is extremely heavy and me and the mechanic had fun getting it in and out lol.

    XJjPov.jpg

    So whilst we where under the car doing the clutch job 3 bug issues became very apparent......

    * drivers side driveshaft o ring halfway down shaft pissing out green grease

    * passenger side driveshaft pissing out green grease around gaitor/cv joint into alloy hub

    * drivers side hub extremely stiff when moved by hand.

    XjGn1i.jpg

    So not only was clutch done, it was a little more ontop BUT we got it ALL done and cars back to being at its very best ,steering feels so dam light now and clutch is feeling so light and grabby.

    how you finding the clutch and flywheel set up..any improvements over DMF and standard clutch?

    Any issues with it throwing a light on because of the SMF.

  22. Yeah its been quite costly my friend.....£1000 for parts and labour for all the above. As for telling you how different it is i have got to do 500 miles to bed it in properly and drove home for 5mins after clutch was done so atm no light up .

  23. mine has been in for about 3k miles and still no light

  24. Awsome work bud.

    Any links to the clutch parts as i need mine doing

  25. This weekend i have finally got round to the oil change i desperatley needed to do after the trackday i did at snetterton.It had done ALOT less than 1k miles in total but what with the 116 miles on track its cheap insurance at £30 to just do a full change .I was pleasently surprised to see the magnetic sump plug having next to nothing on it which was great :-) I always use fully synthetic 5/40 mobil oil.

    J8W30L.jpg

    Also this weekend i have been messing around making/cutting some custom doorcards.still yet to fit a handle to close the door from inside but i am very happy with how its gone.

    I am semi-stripping the car out,painting the floors fully,leaving rear seats in, onwards to back of car will stay as is. Where the foam and carpet fill quite a big gap once removed the pedals are miles away from the new floor level and its best part of undrivable.To remedy this i made up a custom 3mm thick footplate bolted/polyurethaned to the floor with a nice bit of carpet ontop.

  27. Today i have been doin a few bits i have been meaning to do for a month or so now.The front bumper came off and I fitted a new horn as mine was knackered and barely made a noise,and secondly i fitted up intercooler spraying misters x3 and they work amazingly well.

    I have been also preparing the car for bedford tommorow with my mate in his 2014 fiesta st.

    Videos will be uploaded tommorow

  28. Todays bedford autodrome trackday was bloody epic !!!

    It was a greasy and wet day today with the track drying out in places......

    My car sound tested at 95db static and i was told to go easy as i could potentially be near the LOW 87.5 db driveby which i didnt actually hit thank god as its apparently one strike and your out !!

    The meggy performed absolutley on point for 122 miles on track. Was managing to stick with an m3 and a porsche amonst other things and i still cant get over what a HUGE track it is. I managed to hit 133mph on back straight and braking last min was sketchy haha.

    I would advise anybody who hasnt been to bedford to go along,its by far the best track i have been to and i cant recommend it enough !!!!

    Heres one pic i took and i have pro ones coming monday.

  29. Nice Work. Cars looking good. I like the spray on the intercooler. Does it actually make a difference?.

    I just had a Ktec 3" exhaust and decat fitted. Good to know it'll be alright with the noise limits. I'm hoping to hit Bedford sometime soon. Will be my first trackday :smile:

  30. Thanks for the kind words dude.And yeah the mist sprayer onto the cooler is proven to work and actually comes factory fitted to some evos and few other cars.It works by evaporation and the water takes away more heat than the air normally would.

    Just you wait till you get on there mate you have thee best time ever !!! My pro photos have arrived now.....will post below

    Trouble was,the tank they used to supply the water was tiny,so it wouldnt run for long before empty.

  33. Been to Bedford a few times back in the Nissan days and yes it’s a great track, think it’s longer than Silverstone. The only problem with the track is the noise level is so low and we used to struggle to keep the car quiet enough. Took our RX7 there which got pulled out and ruined the day. Not been back since but will give the meg a run up there this year once I’ve sorted the never ending list of problems with it!

  34. Went to brands today with my mate to go passenger in his alfa 147 gta on his first ever trackday.He did really well and that 3.2 litre v6 has alot of poke ! I drove my car as it needed a run and i never knew this but they have a set of scrutinering scales there and i got to weigh the r26 with half a tank and heres the result.... 1218kgs

  35. Today i went about fitting all the new mounts i have ordered up.

    No1 upper main engine mount
    No2 upper small dog next to main
    No3 lower main dog
    No4 gearbox mount

    Below is a picture of all the mounts (google images piccy as i forgot to take piccy of them all before)

    FOGUas.png

    I replaced all the mounts as my car had some really awful knocking noises and most of all some appalling vibrations that frustrated me to high hell !!

    I found that top main was actually badly torn and damaged and would definatley account for the knocking on pull away and starting of car,i found the small top dog was very badly perished,and the lower main dog had alot of play in it.Gearbox mount wasnt to bad.

    So with them all fitted its made a huge difference and stopped my issues noted above. I used pattern non original parts (original ones are insane moneys), and its cost me in total £100 .

    The old parts where all stamped renault so where almost defianatley original and done 85k miles.

    Would really recommend doing this to your meganes as its a huge improvement.

  36. Have noticed recently my exhaust was a little louder than when i first got it so i removed the backbox section and had an investigate and carefully cut a 7cm by 7cm window in the box and found there to be half of the amount of packing in the backbox than there should be.The window i made is accessible with the exhaust on the car so its easy to pack in situ.

    8evYPk.jpg

    I bought x2 bags of packing and stuffed it in there and then went about making a removable cover that would be riveted/siliconed on ready for more packing to go in again at any time in the future.

    j9g5VW.jpg

    rqg1UX.jpg

    Exhaust is now back to being ALOT quieter and is now easily servicable in the future.

  37. Been busy this week on the megane replacing the unused wheel well with a piece of 2mm carbon fibre 1200mm by 850mm (its bloody expensive stuff !! )weighing 1.9kgs. Its fully bolted in as the wheel well would be and also polyurethaned for an air-tight seal. Took me 6 hours total.

  39. 1.9 kg, that’s got be costing you a bhp or two!! What’s the aim of fitting this, is it to add some strengthening to the rear end or just for tidiness? Looks great by the way. Do you mind if I ask how much this and the door cards were? Looking to do something similar with some polycarbonate windows down the line. Cheers
