Megane RS250 as a track car?

  1. Hi Guys,

I've been here for a few years, was wanting an RS250 in 2015 but a loss of job changed the situation. Currently driving a 2017 Audi S3, but also wanting to get into more track time. Plan to get rid early-mid next year and buy a daily as well as an RS250 Cup as a track car. Obviously read through some threads and out of the box they seem pretty capable cars, however solely being a track car the sky is the limit with mods etc. What would people advise to, a) look out for when purchasing, and b) after I get the hang of the dynamics of the car, what mods would be advised?
    Thanks

  2. So many threads already on what to look for, sure someone will answer though

  3. Check belts and service history. Clutch on 80k+, ensure lower wishbone balljoints and hub pivot balljoints have been done, there your main costly things.

Other little niggly things can be leaking scuttle drains which can make the front footwell compartments damp, light condensation on rears. Other than that seem to be fairly solid cars.

Take note of the standard spec when buying there can be a £2k+ difference with the factory spec depending if it has Recaros/Dual climate/RS Monitor/Xenons.

There has been some ridiculously well/low priced RS250's recently which may still be for sale with a good track/clubsport spec setup that would work on track out of the box

  4. Thanks for the advice, I've found a Liquid Yellow Cup with Recaros and low miles near me for £8k. Hoping to get rid of my car soon and see what I can do
